Plain version: this is an educational site with a few paid downloads. Learn from it, link to it, enjoy it - just don't pass the content off as your own or redistribute the paid files, and understand the free content is provided as is.

UX by Example (uxbyexample.co.uk) is run by Chris Daniels in the United Kingdom. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.

The content is educational

Everything here is for general education about user-experience design. It's offered in good faith and to the best of my knowledge, but it isn't professional advice, and I make no guarantee that any technique suits your particular situation. The site and its interactive demos are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind.

Using the site

You're welcome to read, share and link to the content, and to use what you learn in your own work. You may not republish substantial portions of the writing, demos or videos as your own, scrape the site at scale, or use it in a way that disrupts it or breaks the law. The words, interactive demos, videos and design are my intellectual property unless stated otherwise.

Buying a product

Some resources are paid digital downloads (PDFs), sold through Stripe. Prices are shown at checkout in GBP and are one-off - there is no subscription. When payment succeeds you receive your download links by email. A download link stays valid for 90 days and always serves the latest version of the file, so any update released within that window is included at no extra cost. The files are yours to keep; if you lose a link or need it again after 90 days, contact me and I'll send a fresh one.

A purchase is a licence for your own personal use. You're welcome to print the files and use what you learn in your own work, but please don't resell, redistribute or republish the files, or share your download link. The content remains my intellectual property.

Refunds. If a product isn't right for you, email me within 14 days of purchase and I'll refund you, no fuss - a promise I offer on top of your legal rights. Because the files are delivered immediately, your statutory right to cancel a digital purchase may not otherwise apply once the download has started; and if a file is ever faulty or not as described, you're entitled to a remedy under consumer law regardless.

Affiliate links and external sites

Some recommendations link to books on Amazon through an affiliate tag, so I may earn a small commission on a purchase at no extra cost to you. I only recommend things I think are worthwhile. The site also links to third-party sites I don't control, and I'm not responsible for their content or practices.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Governing law & changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. I may update them from time to time; the current version always lives on this page. Questions? Use the contact form.
