What this video covers

Filtering narrows a list by a rule you set; faceted search lets you stack several such rules - by category, price, size, availability - each drawn from the items' own attributes, and shows how many results each choice would leave. It turns a big, flat result set into something you can carve down to exactly what you want.

Each box you ticked carved the set down and the count fell with it - twelve became a handful you could actually choose from. You never scrolled a wall of results; you described what you wanted and the list obeyed. That's faceting: the user sets the rules, the set narrows to fit.
