The halo effect is the way one good quality bleeds into everything else: when something looks polished, people assume it's also more trustworthy, more capable and better value, even with no evidence for any of that. A single strong impression - usually how it looks - casts a "halo" over judgements it has nothing to do with.

Both cards carry the same facts - same specs, same price - yet the polished one just feels better made, doesn't it? Nothing about the actual product changed; only the surface did. That's the halo effect: a single strong impression spilling over onto judgements it never earned, which is why presentation can quietly outvote substance.
