What this video covers
Reactance is the push-back you feel when something threatens your freedom to choose. Tell people they must do something, or that they can't have it, and the heavy-handed pressure itself becomes a reason to resist - so hard sells, forced steps and "you have to" framings often produce exactly the behaviour they were trying to prevent.
The pushy version made you want to resist, didn't it - even if the offer was fine? That kick-back is reactance: pressure on your freedom becomes a reason to refuse. The same offer, framed as a genuine choice with an easy out, goes down far easier. Persuasion that respects autonomy wins where coercion provokes; corner people and they push back, invite them and they lean in.
