The Streisand effect is the way trying to hide, remove or suppress information ends up drawing far more attention to it than ignoring it ever would. The act of suppression signals that something is worth seeing, provokes reactance, and often spreads the very thing you wanted buried.
Watch what happened: leaving the post alone, it faded; trying to scrub it, it exploded. Suppression is a signal - it shouts "this is worth looking at" and dares people to share it. That's the Streisand effect. When you're tempted to delete the criticism or bury the mistake, remember the quietest path is usually to address it openly, because the cover-up travels further than the thing itself.
