What this video covers

A visual anchor is a strong, prominent element - a bold heading, a large image, a key number, a coloured button - that grabs the eye first and gives the rest of the layout something to align and relate to. Anchors create focal points and reference lines that guide where people look and in what order, turning a flat wall of content into a scannable, organised page.

Without an anchor the layout was an even, directionless field - your eye didn't know where to begin. Add one strong focal element and suddenly there's an entry point, a reading order, and lines for everything else to align to. That's a visual anchor: it tells the eye where to land first and organises the page around it. Give the most important thing the strongest anchor, and don't let rivals dilute it.
