Uniform connectedness is the grouping effect that happens when elements are visibly joined by a line, bar, or connector - they’re seen as one group even if spaced out or visually different. A clear connection often trumps proximity or similarity. (Grouping by shared enclosure is the related but distinct cue, common region.)
With the connectors off, the dots were just an even row - nothing told you what went with what. Switch them on and three pairs snap into being, though every dot is identical and evenly spaced. That's uniform connectedness: a line binds two things into a unit more strongly than distance or likeness ever could.
